Fee Structure

An important part of a good working relationship with our client is a clear understanding of fees. There are three methods of compensation.

The most common fee is on a per hour basis. Since we may not know how long a matter will take, this method is the fairest to both attorney and client. Hourly rates are commensurate with responsibility and expertise. All rates are in writing and periodic billing is submitted.

Contingency fees are common in personal injury matters. No recovery-no fee enables a client to have his or her matter pursued without risk of large legal expenses. Where appropriate, the parties may elect this procedure. The New Jersey Supreme Court controls some fees in this area.

A flat or quoted fee is used where practical. Uncomplicated matters or routine procedures where time is predictable, unless unexpected difficulties arise, may call for this type of fee.

All costs are billed separately. In order to keep fees reasonable, we may have an associate or paralegal perform some functions on your matter, but a partner is always assigned to review your file.

When calling the office, first see if a legal assistant can resolve your question. If not, ask for an attorney. Our policy is a prompt response to all clients.
